Tirta Empul Temple

Today we will travel to Tirta Empul. Which is basically a site of various religious ceremonies and rituals, attracting both locals and tourists.


Tirta Empul is a Hindu Balinese water temple located near the town of Tampaksiring The main attraction is a collection of 30 waterspouts, each pouring water into the pool. Pilgrims and visitors come to participate in the ritual bathing, which is believed to cleanse the body and soul. This temple is dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu god of water.

The temple is built around a natural spring with clear, cool water. The spring is considered holy. The main temple structure is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, a principal deity in Hinduism. The temple's history dates back to the 10th century, and it has undergone renovations and additions over the centuries. The temple is a hub for religious ceremonies and rituals. Elaborate stone carvings and sculptures adorn the temple, depicting Hindu mythological figures and scenes.

What's Inside?

What can we expect inside?

Holy springs and pool the main attraction is the series of pools fed by natural springs. The clear spring water is believed to have healing and spiritually cleansing properties.

Statues, throughout the temple grounds, visitors will encounter statues of Hindu deities and mythical creatures

Designated sacred spaces for religious rituals and festivals that visitors may witness.

Gardens with lush green surroundings that add to the peaceful ambiance.

Seremonial areas with open spaces and structures used for prayer, meditation, and ceremonies. Some areas with special significance, where visitors are expected to show respect.


Note: Keep that in mind; while you are visiting a relegious temple, mostly visitors need to wear a sarong and a sash.


How To Go There?

Public Transportation:

While public transportation options are limited in Bali, you can use a combination of local buses (bemos). You may take a local bus to the nearest point to Tampaksiring and then use a taxi or motorbike to reach Pura Tirta Empul.


Guided Tours:

Joining a guided tour is a hassle-free way to visit the temple. Many tour operators offer half-day tours to Pura Tirta Empul. These tours may include transportation, a guide, and sometimes additional cultural experiences.


Scooter or Motorbike Rental:

If you're comfortable riding a scooter or motorbike, you can rent one to reach the temple.


Private Vehicle or Taxi:

Renting a private vehicle with a driver or taking a taxi is a convenient and comfortable option.


Walking or Cycling:

If you're staying nearby, walking or cycling to the temple is an option. However, keep in mind

that the roads can be hilly.

Foreign Adult: Rp 50.000

Foreign Child (5-11): Rp 25.000

Entry for children below 5 is free.
